Luke graduated from the University of Wisconsin in December 2010 earning a degree in Economics while competing on the UW tennis team. He spent his freshman year at Georgia Tech before transferring to Wisconsin for the remainder of his college career. During his four years of college tennis, Luke competed in the NCAA tournament every year. In 2010, UW reached the sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament for the first time in the programs history and finished #22 in the Division 1 rankings. In his Sophomore year Luke attained his highest ranking of #24 in Division 1 doubles and was ranked the following year at #46. Luke was in the starting lineup in both singles and doubles all four years.
Luke graduated from Staples High School in 2006. As a freshman, he led the tennis team to a Class L state title receiving All-State and All-FCIAC honors. He spent his next two years training in Delray Beach, Florida at the International Tennis Academy and going to school at American Heritage. There he helped the tennis team capture a Florida state title in his Junior year. Luke was ranked as high as #1 in New England in the 16 and under division and #2 in the 18 and under division. He won the New England Sectional Championships singles title in the 16 and under division and won the doubles title in the 18 and under division. In his Senior year, Luke attained his highest national ranking of #67 in the 18 and under division. He represented New England in the Junior Davis Cup and Intersectional team tournaments. Coming out of high school, he was the #30 recruit in the nation for his senior class according to Tennis Recruiting.
